Resumen
The industrial activities, associated to the academic studies, have
developed new materials with differentiated properties, with emphasis on carbides. These compounds have several applications, from their use in the heterogeneous catalysis of chemical treatment reactions in oil refining processes, to comply with environmental legislation regarding the emission of sulfur compounds; both the development of new electronic devices, as well as the composition of materials with high hardness. Carbides and Mo oxides with addition of cobalt may exhibit a diversity of intrinsic properties of great interest. In the present study, the HMA precursor without and with dopant addition was used to obtain pure Mo2C and Mo2C-10%Co, respectively, through a solid gas reaction in a fixed bed reactor and the evolution of the conversion of the reaction was monitored through DR -X and MEV at temperatures of 660°C and 700°C. It was observed that the addition of 10% of cobalt in the precursor of this reaction inferred in the appearance of the crystalline phase of Mo2C in shorter times of plateau in both reaction temperatures (660°C and 700°C), with 30 and 0 minutes, respectively. In addition, the reaction in question has a strong dependence on temperature, and the complete conversion was achieved at 700°C in 60 minutes, less time when compared to the process at 660 ° C, similar behavior for pure and doped carbide reactions.
