As fragmentações no espaço urbano no bairro de Nova Parnamirim, em Parnamirim-RN: o caso da Comunidade Toca da Raposa

Abstract

In Brazil, the social differences are intrinsic to the urbanization process. The cities portray this problem from the socio-spatial fragmentations that accentuate the dualities between neighborhoods organized for the rich ones and neighborhoods for the poor ones, revealing segregated scenarios. Starting from the notion that the spacial production occurs associated to the uneven fragmentation process, this study analyzes the case of Toca da Raposa Community, that is localized in Nova Parnamirim neighborhood, Parnamirim city, in Rio Grande do Norte. To understand these contradictions, we used as methodology a theoretical discussion to determine what is a geographic space and how it is produced, using authors like Roberto Lobato Corrêa (1995) and Milton Santos (2012); we actualized a secondary data collection in sources like Parnamirim town hall and IBGE, and primary data by observation and photographic records and questionnaire application. From the information acquired we adopted a dialetic and subjective reflexion, seeking out to make explicit the contradictions and how we could understand the impacts of the local infrastructure on the residents, at the same time making a correlation with the differences between the community and the neighborhood that it is localized. Therewith, it was found that Toca da Raposa faces a indifference by the town hall, while the other areas of the neighborhood open to the installation of big companies to valorize Nova Parnamirim.
