The meme is a concept first introduced by Richard Dawkins in 1976 in his book “The Selfish Gene”, and defined as the unit of replication in socio-cultural evolution. If successful, it presents very efficient replicating qualities: longevity, fecundity and fidelity. Thus, successful memes can be used as a tool to facilitate the teaching-learning process, since they have the intrinsic quality of being easily memorized and propagated. In this context, we should focus on a specific type of meme: the musical meme. In the light of memetics, music can be considered a strong factor in the replication of information in cultures, configuring itself as a kind of meme. In students of various ages, studies show that music transforms learning into pleasurable and stimulating activities. When singing, the student starts to develop new abilities and establish a relationship with the sung content. The use of new technologies and forms of Education are very important for a modern and well-contextualized education. Paying close attention to the global environmental context, there is a need to implement these innovations in the context of Environmental Education, in order to enhance new awareness on the relationship between the individual and the environmet. Unfortunately, many songs on environmental themes in general do not seem to have good reach and do not attract as much attention from students. Through the literature review method, the objective of this study was to make a link between memetics, the musical meme and Environmental Education, investigating the role of the musical meme in facilitating the teaching-learning process, and how it can provoke greater interest in the contents by students. Finally, the found works pointed to the meme and the musical meme as a potential didactic resource in education and especially in Environmental Education.O meme é um conceito trazido pela primeira vez por Richard Dawkins em 1976 em seu livro O Gene Egoísta, que o define como a unidade de replicação cultural. Quando é considerado bem-sucedido, possui qualidades replicadoras muito eficientes: longevidade, fecundidade e fidelidade de cópia. Dessa forma, os memes bem-sucedidos podem ser uma ferramenta de facilitação no processo ensino-aprendizagem, já que possuem em si a qualidade intrínseca de serem facilmente memorizados e repercutidos. Chama-se a atenção para um tipo de meme em específico: o meme musical. À luz da memética, a música pode ser considerada como forte atriz na replicação de informações nas culturas, configurando-se como um tipo de meme. Em alunos de várias idades, estudos apontam que a música torna o aprendizado prazeroso e estimulante, pois ao cantar, o aluno passa a descobrir capacidades e estabelecer relação com o conteúdo cantado. A utilização de novas tecnologias e formas de educar são de muita relevância para uma educação moderna e bem contextualizada. E atentando-se juntamente ao contexto ambiental global, vê-se a necessidade de implementar essas inovações no contexto da Educação Ambiental, a fim de potencializar a formação de uma nova consciência acerca da relação do indivíduo e seu entorno. Infelizmente, muitas músicas com temas ambientais que agregariam bastante na Educação Ambiental parecem não possuir bom alcance no geral, e não chamam tanto a atenção dos alunos. Por meio do método de revisão bibliográfica, o objetivo foi fazer um elo entre a memética, o meme musical e a Educação Ambiental, investigando o papel do meme musical na facilitação do processo ensino-aprendizagem, e de que forma pode provocar um maior interesse nos conteúdos ambientais por alunos. Por fim, os trabalhos encontrados apontaram para o meme e o meme musical como um potencial recurso didático na educação e em especial na Educação Ambiental.
