Resumen
Several activities of daily living involve the simultaneous execution of multiple tasks that challenge motor and cognitive functions, these activities are known as Dual Task. Objective: To evaluate the performance of community-dwelling elderly people in performing manual activities under the interference of cognitive activities. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, analytical, quantitative study. The sample was obtained for convenience. The performance of elderly people in performing manual activities with and without cognitive interference was evaluated through the initial assessment form, Leganés Cognitive Test, subjective performance in a dual task, through the Dual-Tasking Questionnaire and the application of four manual tasks without interference. cognitive and four manual tasks with cognitive interference for one minute, counting the number of correct answers. Results: The sample consisted of 10 elderly people, with a prevalence of women (80%), with a mean age of 69.1±5.46 years. There was a significant reduction in the manual performance of the elderly in all tasks with cognitive interference (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was observed that there was a decrease in manual performance in the four activities after the addition of the cognitive task, in relation to the simple task. Therefore, the importance of evaluating the performance of the elderly in manual tasks with cognitive interference is highlighted, as well as proposing specific interventions for this population, considering that the tasks are representative of real-life conditions and are present in mobility, care and care activities. personal and domestic life.
