dc.description.abstract | COVID-19 is an infectious disease, caused by the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and characterized in 2020 as a pandemic. Its main forms of transmission are respiratory droplets released by infected people and direct contact with surfaces where the virus is present. The pandemic has proved to be a challenge for health services and one of the main forms of prevention used has been the use of Personal Protective Equipment. With the greater need for prevention against the new coronavirus, the profile of use of this type of equipment has changed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the profile of dispensing personal protective equipment at Hospital Regional do Seridó Telecila Freitas Fontes. The research was carried out at the Central de Abastecimento Farmacêutico and at the Central Pharmacy of Hospital Regional do Seridó Telecila Freitas Fontes. Data were collected in the Horus System, including all surgical masks, N95/PFF2 type masks, aprons, caps, small, medium and large size procedure gloves, dispensed between 06/01/2019 to 01/01 12/12 and 01/06/2020 to 12/01/2020. The study showed that there was a significant increase in the amount of personal protective equipment dispensed in the hospital during the given period, with emphasis on surgical masks and masks of the type N95/PFF2. Thus, there is the importance of conducting constant training with health workers on the correct use of personal protective equipment, as well as creating strategies to rationalize their use. | |
