Avaliação das perdas hídricas no sistema de abastecimento de água do bairro de Cajupiranga em Parnamirim/RN

Abstract

The losses on the urban systems of water supplies are one of the main problems faced by the sanitation companies. The sum of these wastes, worldwide, reaches about 50%. The losses cause financial damages to companies, besides huge environmental impacts, because, due to the low efficiency of the system, the volume collected in the reservoirs to serve a specific population will be double what is needed. Losses are classified in two groups: I – Apparent water losses, caused by unauthorized consumption and metering inaccuracies; II – Real water losses, associated with leaks on the distribution network. This article aims stratify and quantify the volumes that make up the not accounted water in the supply system from Cajupiranga, Parnamirim/RN, founded on the methodology of the hydric balance. With the sub sectorization of the neighborhood and the application of tariffs to the plots of unbilled water volume, it was also possible to show which losses were preponderant in each area and what the financial impact generated to the Water and Sewage Company of Rio Grande do Norte respectively.
