Resumen
The research presented here is inserted between the threshold of performance and music
education, in which considers the important aspects of the musical performance and the
possibilities of collective teaching of the investigated situation. Seen in these terms, this
research aims to understand the main interpretive techniques and the methodological aspects
that characterize the formation of instrumentalists of the Brass Lyra Tatuí Orchestra (today
extinct) and The Brass Lyra Bragança Orchestra. This work was based with methodology in
bibliography researches, documentary analysis, in loco observation of the projects and semistructured interviews with the informants involved. Based on information collected during the
investigation of The Brass Lyra Tatuí Orchestra and The Brass Lyra Bragança Orchestra it was
verified that the interpretive techniques aspects are important to the development of collective
practices, which contributes to a comprehensive and solid background that enables students to
diversify their entry into the job market. Among these aspects it is possible to relate the
following: stretching and physical exercise; breathing and muscle strengthening activities; lip
vibration (buzzing); sounding questions; theoretical classes for clarification and consolidation;
long note studies; studies with various joints accents in a melodic pattern; interval studies;
studies of scales and arpeggios in models and various articulations; solfeggio and singing
activities; and chamber music practice in a variety of instrumental formations. It was also
possible to present methodological directions related to the importance of considering students'
particularities concerning to the choosing of the didactic materials and the repertoire; the
development of students' musical autonomy; the skills needed for the teacher; the
methodological characteristics of collective teaching; and other directions that are fundamental
when thinking and developing practices with the collective teaching with brass instruments.
Thus, it is hoped that this research can contribute significantly to the musical practice and the
collective teaching of brass instruments.
