| dc.description | Analyzes collective representations of Afro-American religiosity in the narrative of the “horror” genre, taking as time frame the productions of the mid-twentieth century. Aims to question the filmic narratives that depict the so-called “voodoo mythology”, assuming the horror films as modern myths who date back to the Afro-American religiosity, having the main representative in the Haitian Voodoo. Specifically, discusses the relations established in the contact between the American culture and the local culture of Haiti, after the Revolution of Saint-Domingue (1791-1804) that would culminate in the images presented in the horror film narratives. Methodologically, the research adopted Marc Ferro's view of the filmic narrative, seeing the film as an “image-object”. It is established as a premise the idea that this mythical representation of afro-Haitian religion is presented through a remembrance of the particularities of the Haitian formation process as an independent geopolitical space, namely: a) the brutal enslavement process of bodies and souls of the African population and the Afro-American population; b) the resistance of black people; c) religion and Afro-descent experience; d) work and culture; e) the relationship between man and environment; f) the inversion of slavery from the traditional voodoo myth of the “zombie” and its subsequent film developments. | |
| dc.description | Analisa as representações coletivas da religiosidade afro-americana na narrativa do gênero “horror”, tomando como recorte temporal as produções de meados do século XX. Objetiva problematizar as narrativas fílmicas que retratam a chamada “mitologia vodu”, assumindo os filmes de horror como mitos modernos que remontam à religiosidade afro-americana, tendo como principal representante o vodu haitiano. Especificamente, busca discutir as relações tensas estabelecidas no contato entre a cultura norte-americana e a cultura local haitiana pós Revolução de Saint-Domingue (1791-1804) que culminaria, a posteriori, nas imagens apresentadas nas narrativas fílmicas de horror. Metodologicamente, a pesquisa adota a visão de Marc Ferro acerca da narrativa fílmica, enxergando o filme como uma “imagem-objeto”. Estabelece-se como premissa a ideia de que esta representação mítica da religiosidade afro-haitiana se dá através de uma rememoração alegorizada das particularidades do processo de formação do Haiti enquanto espaço geopolítico independente, a saber: a) o brutal processo de escravização de corpos e de almas da população africana e afro-americanas; b) a resistência negra; c) a religião e as práticas afrodescendentes; d) o trabalho e a cultura; e) a relação entre homem e meio ambiente; f) a inversão da escravização a partir do mito vodu tradicional do “zumbi” e seus posteriores desdobramentos cinematográficos. | |
