dc.description.abstractDistance Education (DE) enables a new form of access to Education while providing its democratization. Considering the growth of DE in the educational scenario, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has sought to improve its education system. In this context, didactic work has been started in order to shift course formats from the face-to-face to the distance learning, comprising the Tactical and Specialized Instruction Group (GITE), one of the FAB schools. During the course, the content developers have shown difficulties in producing didactic materials for distance learning. Given this fact, this research is focused on improving the process of developing the production of teaching material for the distance education of military courses. The general objective of the research was to elaborate an instructional design model for the production of the didactic material of the Brazillian Air Force GITE distance courses. The specifics goals were outlined as: to analyze the current process of producing educational material from GITE; investigate the procedures adopted by the content developers in the preparation of the GITE teaching material; develop a model for the production of teaching materials for GITE, based on instructional design; and to propose a course on the elaboration of didactic material for the content of GITE. The research methodology presents a qualitative approach characterized as applied descriptive. To obtain data, the following procedures were adopted: semi-structured interview, focus group, analysis of the didactic materials for distance education produced by the military school, and analysis of the criticisms of the students who used such didactic materials. The interpretation of the collected material followed the principles of content analysis. As a result of this research, a model was developed for the production of teaching materials based on instructional design and a virtual course on the development of teaching material for distance learning courses. The products contribute to the training of GITE content and provide the quality of teaching materials. The model for the production of teaching materials and the proposed course can be applied at GITE, in the various FAB Units, as well as in the civil sphere.
