Resumen
This is a survey about the group buying that emerged in mid-2010, through which companies
make use of specific sites facing this type of sale. Considering the large growth in the number
of Internet users in Brazil and around the world, this type of market has become frequent and
their growth has generated many economic studies on viability, awakening in a portion of
social scientists, the desire to study their characteristics, such as mode to identify an economic
model in which it insets.
The objective of this study is therefore to identify the peculiarities, as well as the economic
factors involved in this collective process of buying (goods and services) from a particular
economic model. For this, we used essentially the literature method, in addition to visits to
sites - given the nature of the research object.
Due to the importance of the regulation of these new market relations, this paper also analysis
the appearance of recent laws aimed at providing effective protection and consumer rights to
this new "modus operandi" of the economic system.
Given the inherent unpredictability about the future, especially when it comes to
threats/opportunities from technological innovations, ironically, at the same speed of its
amazing growth, the group buying market suddenly waned, and virtually disappeared.
