Resumen
In order for the deaf person to have free access to knowledge and to fully develop all
its potentialities, it is necessary to guarantee accessibility in sign language (in Brazil,
Brazilian Sign Language - Libras), which is considered by Law nº 10.436 / 2002 and
Decree nº 5.626 / 2005 the mother tongue (first language) of the deaf person. Thus,
the aim of this research was to analyze the accessibility for deaf people in a
documentary, considering the parameters of the area and the deaf consultancy, the
interpretation and translation in Libras and the subtitling for the deaf and deafened
people, from a study of reception with representatives of the deaf community. The
research is qualified as part of the case study of the qualitative and interpretative
approach (qualitative-interpretative). The methodological procedures were: analysis
of the video documentary “No Mato das Mangabeiras”, considering accessibility in
Libras and subtitling; investigation of the parameters of Translation / Interpretation in
Libras and subtitling with representatives of the deaf community, through the
composition of a focus group; systematization of the reception of the documentary, in
which thirteen deaf subjects watched a video documentary with subtitles for deaf and
deafened people and the Libras window; data building from the proposition of two
questionnaires, both in the first and the last meeting, with different questions to better
understand in our research the role of the deaf consultant. Thus, this type of research
may allow the object of study, translation and interpretation in Libras and subtitling for
the deaf and deafened people in the audiovisual, to be investigated in an
interpretative way and close to a set of real facts that underlie the context of
accessibility of audiovisual resources for deaf people. The results revealed the
importance of deaf consulting in audiovisual, as the deaf consultant can guide,
together with other accessibility professionals, the improvement of the parameters of
the Libras window and subtitling, as well as working with terminology with the
translation and interpretation in Libras. However, further studies on deaf consulting in
other areas in Libras and reflections on accessibility for deaf people are necessary to
ensure the quality of translation and interpretation in Libras.
