| dc.description.abstract | INTRODUCTION: Shoulder dysfunctions restrict activities of daily living, decrease functional independence and affect the quality of life of affected individuals. There are few functional performance tests on top-end activities that are easy and quick to measure and do not require modern equipment. The objective of this study was to evaluate the intra-rater reliability of a functional test protocol, applied to individuals with subacromial impact syndrome (SIS) and asymptomatic symptoms for shoulder pain. METHODS: A total of 100 individuals participated in the study, of which 50 had clinical symptoms of unilateral SIS and 50 asymptomatic patients for shoulder pain, between 18 and 50 years of age, of both sexes. The subjects were evaluated for function by a protocol of three functional tests that simulate the activities of daily living, where the time of accomplishment and the level of pain will be evaluated. The data were statistically analyzed in a descriptive and inferential manner and generating Intraclass Correlation Coefficient and absolute (Standard Error Measurement and Minimun Detectable Change) estimates. RESULTS: The functional protocol had excellent reliability in all tests (ICC> 0.80), as well as in all groups. A statistical difference was found in the comparison between SIS Group members in Tests 2 and 3; in the Healthy group there was no significance for Time, only for Pain in Test 1 on both days and of Test 3 on day 2; in the comparison between groups Time was significant in all tests, and pain was in tests 2 and 3. CONCLUSION: The tests presented excellent reliability and, despite the differences found in the tests, these values did not reach the high results of the SEM and the MDC95. | |
