His research is centered on the training of the music researcher, from the universe of Post-Graduation stricto sensu (Master and Doctorate) programs in Brazil. In this perspective, the goal was to understand and reflect on how the training process of researchers occurs from the formative experiences of master’s students of the Post-Graduate Programs in Music of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB). With this in mind, the research was influenced by authors who deal with the formation of the researcher and post-graduate programs. The main authors were Severino (2009, 2012), based on the premise that the knowledge produced and the formation of new researchers in the Post-Graduation is given through a collective subject; and Léon (2017), for dealing with academic and research training with graduates of the Master's Degree in Music (Music Education), considering them as subjects involved in a scientific community. The methodology used was the qualitative approach of research, using the method of the case study. As a data construction tool, the online questionnaire (via Google Docs) was used as a first step. A semistructured interview was carried out in the second stage of the investigative process with the goal of deepening the knowledge on the theme of the training of the music researcher as well as conducting documentary research. Thus, the participants were the masters students of both the Post-Graduation Program in Music (PPGMUS) / UFRN and the Graduate Program in Music (PPGM) / UFPB. As a result, it was verified that training as a music researcher is diversified and it is necessary to consider a series of important elements for such training. In this sense, we highlight some aspects that were ascertained from the analysis: curiosity, knowledge, theoretical deepening on a certain theme, reading and academic writing. A change of posture and continuity were also observed as students went on to further their studies at the doctoral level. The conclusion is that there are diverse ways in which training can be seen. It can be configured in various aspects - ranging from technical and theoretical elements, to maturation as a human being - provided by the Master’s course. From this, it is reflected that studying is needed in the area of the training of music researchers. It is a way of understanding and structuring formative strategies that can contemplate the desires of researcher apprentices in music in the contemporary world.
