Proposta de um Plano de Gerenciamento de Resíduos Sólidos para a Central Analítica do NUPPRAR/UFRN

Abstract

Concern for the environment is increasingly present in the discussions and daily life of society, where a large part of the environmental problems are generated by the negative impacts caused by the generation of solid waste and its subsequent inadequate disposal that can contaminate the air, soil and Surface water and groundwater. Among the various types of waste produced in human activities are the waste from laboratories of educational institutions, which are those resulting directly from laboratory practices and which, to the detriment of the activities developed there, may or may not have hazardous waste characteristics and require a Handling and disposal. In order to minimize the effects of the generation of this waste in public institutions and due to the effects of the inadequate disposal in the environment, it is necessary to apply and follow the legal provisions established by the National Solid Waste Policy through the elaboration of a waste management plan. In this work, a Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) was proposed for the Analytical Center of NUPPRAR/UFRN, aiming to make a diagnosis of the current situation of waste generation and to propose an adequate management in the face of the possible irregularities found, setting goals for the Implementation of said Plan. With the implementation of the PGRS according to the pre-established goals will bring benefits to the Analytical Center of NUPPRAR/UFRN, since in addition to adjusting it with the current legal requirements, it will help reduce the risks of impact to the environment and the health of the technicians themselves And employees of these laboratories, as well as the university society and its surrounding area.
