O espaço além das paredes: criação de ambiente virtual para o Museu do Seridó

Abstract

This Graduation Final Paper studies the relation between the historical building of the Museum of Seridó - a Chamber House and Jail of Caicó/RN - and the museal narrative executed by its team, which the final product is an virtual educational activity that seeks to highlight the museum’s architectural space and its urban site as a local cultural heritage. The brazilian northeastern museums are mined by lack of public politics, abandonement culture and lack of qualified staff, which causes a conflitc in its social role. And its not different for Museum of Seridó: a young institution with a mission of extreme relevance at its local site, but struggles to act in society, specially concearning technology. Therefore, this paper seeks to understand the museum’s work and its local relevance; to reaffirm the importance of its architectural heritage for Seridó’s identity and memory; and to aid the institution to promote cultural education and research through a virtual tool shaped by heritage education.
