The present research project addresses the use of virtual games through computerized simulation, in the learning of orienteering mode. As a general objective, we decided to analyze the application of a virtual game as a possibility to promote learning in the beginning of the orientation race, with students from a municipal school in the city of Triunfo Potiguar. Hence the importance of studies that show how it is feasible to apply the modality on a daily basis, with the use of simple strategies, such as a virtual game specific to the initiation, in the orientation modality. The type of research applied in this study was the participant research, because it is an educational activity of investigation and social action, according to Brandão (1990). The sample consisted of 16 students of both sexes, aged between 10 and 14 years, currently students of the 6th, 7th and 8th grade, students of the municipal school Manoel Felinto Filho, belonging to the Municipality of Triunfo Potiguar-RN . In the virtual game, 5 participants had the ability to steer the map and enter the narrow path. The other prisms were in the same segment of narrow trail within the forest, making it clear that despite having two crossings all managed to keep the map oriented and continue in the right direction. Despite the errors in the map orientation race in the field, the result was very satisfactory, since the only information passed was that, regardless of where it was on the ground, the map should not change position, but rather the participant. Thus, we can conclude that, with only two exercises applied, the virtual and educational game on the ground, it was clear that the initiation needs to be simple activities, such as a map on the ground and, through virtual play, it is possible for students to have a Initiation to a new modality, such as orienteering.
