Fabricação de produtos têxteis e confecções de artigos do vestuário e acessórios: estudo recente do desempenho da cadeia têxtil na indústria metropolitana de Natal (1994-2015)

Abstract

This paper analyzes the activities of clothing and accessories and textile products manufacturing in the Natal Metropolitan Region in the period from 1994 to 2015, rescuing some of the history of the cotton crop in the Northeast and the state of Rio Grande do Norte, because cotton is one of the necessary inputs in the textile chain for the development of some of its activities and thus has exerted influence in the emergence of the textile industry in the Northeast and Rio Grande do Norte. Analyzes the brazilian textile and clothing chain against the International market with its multiple divisions of labor where countries that offer cheap labor and other technological advantages are gaining space in greater proportions and thus characterizing the textile industry of the Natal Metropolitan Region as to its importance in the economy of the Region and of the State, in addition to the characterization of the personnel employed on these activities based on the gender, level of education and remuneration received. The results of this study indicate that in the recent period there was an agglomeration of the activities studied around the potiguar capital, with personnel employed in the majority of the female gender in the activity of clothing and accessories and the masculine gender in the textile products manufacturing, while the majority of the workers involved in these activities have a school level between the 8th grade incomplete and the high school, although with variations in the studied period. With regard to labor remuneration, there are still low levels of salary in both activities, with most of the employees receiving between 1.01 and 1.5 minimum salaries.
