Resumen
This research is a case study carried out with a class of 4th grade students at local private elementary school in the city of Natal. It was realized during the first semester of 2015, as a requisite of the Supervised Intern III class. It aims to reflect about the importance of the recorder as an auxiliary resource to aid in the musical development of elementary students. I also describe my experience in the classroom as a professor in training, making use of this musical instrument. I also reflect on important issues about the role of the music educator in the classroom, faced with mandatory music classes in the schools. I do this through the experience I gained as intern, as well as via bibliographical review. The focus in the bibliographical review was on music teaching at the elementary school level, and finally, with an emphasis on the use of the recorder with its accessible and didactic profile.
