Active teaching and learning methodologies are gaining more ground in today's education and foster relevant discussions about a new way of teaching and learning. Project-Based Learning (PBL) is associated with a pedagogical model focused on the student's practical activity. It is believed that PBL, coupled with an agile methodologies approach, can ensure results through smaller scope deliveries in a shorter timeframe, as well as a constant assessment of the student's learning process. This work aims to apply a monitoring and research and innovation model for the development of projects by information technology residents applied to the legal area. The graduate program in IT residency aims to insert students in a scenario of production of practical projects with important values for the Federal Justice. A proposal for management and monitoring of learning for the PBL discipline was presented and evaluated by the students through questionnaires. In addition, a study was conducted on how the use of workflow tracking and academic tracking technology tools impact student learning and performance in the program through the tracking and analysis of data entered into the systems. The developed model proved to be solid and could contribute to the collection of these perceptions, besides promoting the delivery of relevant projects. The results revealed the need to rethink the division of disciplines in the course and the difficulty in associating the concepts addressed in the classroom in the projects developed at the Federal Justice.
