Perfil do usuário de insulina do serviço Prosus em um centro de saúde de Natal/RN

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by a picture of hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion and / or its action, which, if left untreated, can lead to complications responsible for significant rates of morbidity and mortality. The therapy of DM involves the exogenous insulin triad, monitoring and health education and among the initiatives that are related to pharmaceutical assistance in this matter, the ProSus Program, a service of the Municipal Health Secretariat of Natal / RN carried out at the Integrated Health Center Health Services - Fisheries Units. This observational and descriptive study aims to characterize the insulin users of this service through the description of their profile. Despite the limitations regarding the sample size (n = 45), we observed a predominance of female patients, elderly, diagnosed with type 2 DM, with intensive treatment with certain types and therapeutic regimens of insulin analogues, highlighting the use of Glargine and Asparte. Studies that allow establishing the set of factors related to DM and the social, clinical and therapeutic profile of users who use insulin can contribute to the rational construction of care programs, health policies and educational actions regarding the possibilities of prevention, control and pharmacological treatment methods available, highlighting the importance of the pharmaceutical professional in this context.
