dc.description.abstractThis monograph is the outcome of a bibliographical, documentary and field research on democratic management and the School Council as a participation tool. The aim of the search is showing the elements to reflection about how the School Council works, it focuses the participation in a Preschool unit from Natal City (RN) and it seeks to understand the democratic management in this school. Thus, it proposes the following question: What is the School Council’s contribution to the consolidation of democratic management in the institution? For the implementation of democratic management it is necessary that some mechanisms actually enable this process. The School Council has been a principle that promotes the participation of all school segments and neighborhood, it allows listening to the segments for a decision-making through the representatives or in a general assembly shape. The search was based in the theoretical reference about management, management models, democratic management, School Council and participation, then it was made a qualitative research with four counselors, representatives of segments of the School Council, and an employee of that researched school, in focus their thoughts about the participation of themselves. Wherefore, everyone that make up the school community committed and actively move the democratic management, they promote citizenship and the welfare, with quality education.
