A room of Perlstein Hall, Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago, IL, USA) was equipped with a HVAC system with a carbon dioxide sensor, which aims to directly regulate air quality and ensure that the room has an acceptable condition. This procedure, however, can put an extra load on the HVAC system and increase energy consumption. Thus, the main objective was the development and application of a temperature control strategy and CO2 concentration for the system in question, using a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller. Data collected on tests conducted in the room were used for the estimation of transfer functions and controller. Initially, the controller was tested separately and then together. It can be seen that the PI controller obtained good results, despite of the overshoot and oscillations already observed by the literature, achieving to reach the predetermined temperature set point of 70°F and CO2 concentration set point of 150 ppm
