dc.description.abstract | Medicines are an essential topic in the subject of patient safety, in view of the high risks and frequency of occurrences of Adverse Drug Events (EAM) resulting from their mis-use. It is noteworthy that medication errors are among the most recurrent AMEs in health services and constitute an internationally recognized problem. The relevance becomes greater when working with drugs classified as potentially dangerous (MPP). The present study aims at the elaboration of a manual with information of technical and scientific character for the management of the MPP used in Hospital do Seridó, Caicó-RN. For the preparation of the guide, a specialized bibliographic survey was carried out, using digital platforms, electronic files, pharmaceutical websites and model manuals applied in hospi-tals in Brazil. The production of this material was divided into phases. The first phase is characterized by the survey and elaboration of the list of MPP existing in the health insti-tution. The second phase was characterized by the implementation of barriers that reduce, hinder or eliminate the possibility of errors occurring: labeling of the MPP present in the pediatrics and obstetrics sectors, in addition to the implementation of double checking in the evaluation of the medical records in case of MPP prescription. The third and final phase is characterized by the elaboration of the manual itself and its presentation to the multi-professional team. Finally, the articulation between the technical and administrative management of Hospital do Seridó and the multi-professional residence will be of utmost importance so that the manual can be effectively validated and, in addition, applied to the daily needs of the institution. | |
