Resumen
The Transport Phenomena are an important area of study of chemical engineering, with three main topics: fluid dynamics, heat transfer and mass transfer. Apply the knowledge learned in lectures in laboratory practices is critical to student learning. In this paper it was implemented a practice of Transport Phenomena using a pitot tube. The Pitot is a simple tool and easy to understand employee for measuring flow in speed. From the speed measurement performed by a Pitot tube, it is possible to infer the flow of a fluid, which is one of the main process variables in Chemical Engineering. In this unit built, an air blower was connected to a pipe containing a Pitot tube installed. The outlets of differential pressure of Pitot were connected to a pressure gauge "U" with liquid water column and an electronic pressure sensor. Also, it was implemented an automated system to record the data from the pressure sensor and to modulate the rotation of the air blower which is connect to a frequency inverter. The automatic system was communicated through a program developed with computer interface that allows users to perform experimental practice working remotely. The system was tested in different conditions of air velocity and applying Bernoulli's equation, it was possible to find a significant correlation between the speed inferred by differential pressure measurements with the speed values obtained through a portable anemometer.
