Mídia alternativa e a luta contra preconceitos: uma análise do conteúdo do data_labe

Abstract

Throughout the 20th century, from the perspective of the mainstream media, favelas were associated with crime and violence, in a racist narrative that reverberates to this day and affects the image created by the population about these territories and their residents. In this context, alternative media arise to contest the worldviews created by the hegemonic media, in a process that today is enhanced through the internet. This work intends, through the analysis of news articles produced by data_labe, a media and research laboratory based in the favela da Maré, to list fundamental elements that serve to illustrate the importance of this initiative in the communication scenario and in breaking stereotypes and prejudices about these territories. For this, the qualitative content analysis methodology will be used, with emphasis on an intentional sample, as a way of systematizing ideas and possible answers.
