dc.description.abstractThe construction pathology is one of the Civil Engineering areas considered of fundamental importance, which main focus is to guarantee the quality and good performance of reinforced concrete structures. During the entire lifetime, such structures can present problems resulting from design deficiencies or ill-conceived projects, incorrect use of materials, defective execution and non-existent maintenance. These factors explain the recurring problems in the building, which not only compromise the structure but also consume financial resources, reducing the construction's budget due to its use in avoidable repairs. This work focuses on the analysis of pathological manifestations and presents the deterioration mechanism observed in the structures of three public schools located in RN, carried out through visual inspections on site. Consequently, it was sought to highlight the importance of precautions that must be taken in order to ensure an attractive, functional, safe and durable building. It should be highlighted that at the time the schools were built there was no adequate supervision of the constructive process producing, as a consequence nowadays, a high rate of pathological problems that should be solved urgently. It is noteworthy that during this study, some of the buildings were recovered and this procedure, as well as the adopted solutions, are presented and discussed.
