Resumen
Study on the value chain in a unit of the Emergency Room in clinical condition Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI), using as a basis the theoretical and methodological assumptions contained in the care model to health developed by Michael Porter. The research aimed to analyze, through the value chain, the delivery of care to patients in an emergency unit of a hospital in Natal / RN, in clinical condition AMI, considering the relevant aspects to competitive advantage. The specific objectives were: i) map the Value Chain in the institution studied, using as a clinical condition AMI; ii) determine whether the objectives of each stage of the Value Chain are being achieved. The study, descriptive and analytical, used qualitative and quantitative data analysis through the application of interviews and questionnaires to 14 doctors, 30 technical and administrative staff, a director and an administrator of the Institution. Content analysis technique was used, wich application of the interviews led to Value Chain map. It was also used the Likert Scale, in order to determine a score that could reflect the degree of achievement of the objectives and functions of each stage of the Value Chain. The results allowed the mapping of Value Chain in AMI in the institution studied and the study showed that the factors that constitute these phases were assessed as satisfactory in the opinion of respondents, which was confirmed by the percentage of 68.3% obtained in 430 questions, verified within the range of partial or complete agreement with the statements. The stages that best meet their objectives emphasize the diagnosis, the treatment and the discharge orientation. Observing the scores 4 and 5 together, which correspond to the partial or complete agreement to the statements given, the item equipment, with 92.86%, also stands out with an excellent evaluation by the respondents. The Value Chain phases that were further away from their goals were those related to prevention and activities for the patient / client after hospital discharge. The study revealed elements for defining strategies to be applied to activities carried out by the Institution, as well as for the generation of value to patients, thus contributing to provide competitive advantage in the health care companies.
