dc.description.abstractNowadays, because there is an increasing industrial competition, it becomes necessary to have a more efficient control of the process, to seek for a better product quality, cost reduction and greater safety. In the petrochemical industry it is not different, and one of the most important processes in this industry is distillation. To perform the distillation, it is necessary to have a set of equipments: valves, controllers, vessels, distillation columns; interconnected, in a way to allow an effective control of the product composition with quality within a pre-determined specification. The goal of this work is to improve the control of temperature and reflux flow rate of a distillation process. The distillation column, which was simulated on HYSYS R , is a debutanizer that has elevated nonlinearities. Thus, diferent gain scheduling techniques with anti-windup Integrator Clamping were investigated, tested and compared. To tune the controllers, an empirical strategy was employed.
