Resumen
Passiflora genus, known as “maracujá”, is popularly used as tea for its calming, sedative and gentle sleep-inducing properties. Passiflora species are rich in flavonoids, and can be differentiated by their chromatographic profile. In this context, quality control analysis of Passiflora-based teas are important to ensure the quality and avoid risks to the consumer's health. This study aimed to evaluate the chromatographic profile of five samples of “maracujá” purchased in Natal/RN according to Farmacopeia Brasileira and the product labels were also verified. In general, samples (1-4) showed a similar chromatographic profile, but different intensity of the zones were observed, with exception of the sample 5 that presented a different profile. Isoorientin was observed in all samples, but zones of similar Rf and color of isovitexin were not detected in all samples. In the analysis of labels, it was observed that all samples showed non-conformities in accordance with the specifications of current legislation. Our results show the need for standardization of cultivation and harvests time and the production process of teas in Brazil.
