dc.description.abstractThe present research aims to present mental maps as a strategy to favor learning, having as subjects the students of Youth and Adult Education (EJA). A research was divided into three stages: the first part consisted of a data survey through the study of the Epistemological Circle of Culture (CEC) suggested by Romão et al (2006), which is derived from the Circle of Culture Studied by Freire (1967). This survey serves to verify problems, demands and motivations of students who refer to learning and specificities. From this survey, it was possible to define an ideal language to be executed in the learning object built in the second stage, which was a slide show with multimedia resources for auxiliary resources for reproduction and use of mental maps. This object was presented to students through a workshop. We used as a theoretical study the foundations for mapping suggested by Buzán (1996), as well as the studies of the visual elements found in the design from Samara (2010 and 2011), Dondis (2007), Lupton and Phillips (2015). The third and last stage of the research was the construction of maps based on a theme worked in the classroom, making it possible to analyze the effectiveness of mind maps. As the results were possible to present a technical efficiency in the educational context, they can be applied in several teaching variables.
