Resumen
Water scarcity is one of the global problems that can affect human survival. Buildings with conservation systems is going to provide a decrease in water's demand for sanitation companies. The need to use rain water and the conservation of drinking water is more urgent in hot dry regions, where it is less available. The quality of the built environment is not only related to a water availability and users comfort should be designed from the
environmental point of view, to the knowledge of the climate and the principles favorable to it. This paper aims
to develop an architectural proposal for a horizontal multi-family housing in the city of Currais Novos, RN, with
with water conservation strategies, rainwater harvesting and bioclimatic strategies for the hot dry climate. The
procedures are organized in five steps: (i) data collection; (ii) data analysis; (iii) development of the proposal; (iv) capacity of the system; (v) wording and drawing the technical details. Water rationalization strategies and
bioclimatic recommendations were the two pillars of this paper, which achieved a reduction of 242,530
liters/year of drinking water consumption using two measures: the reduction of consumption at the source and
the utilization of an alternative source of water.
