Edifícios corporativos: uma primeira aproximação sobre a produção em Natal/RN

Abstract

Real estate is responsible for producing the majority of vertical buildings in a city. Among the many purposes of buildings, residential and corporate uses stand out, thus, ones accommodating commercial and service companies. In Natal’s case, throughout the past 50 years, corporate buildings’ locations and typologies have been through significant changes concerning proximity to urban infrastructure as well as construction techniques and surface finishing standards. The main cause of such changes lays in the necessity of attracting these spaces’ consumers by offering important differentials for companies’ operations. Parting from an existing listing, this study aims to characterize corporate buildings’ production in Natal between 1960 and 2010, highlighting the ones registered with this purpose in registry offices. Conclusions point out building refinement, especially concerning facades’ finishing materials, as well as a spatial decentralization towards the city’s southern zone.
