Resumen
This report is part of the final stage of the Professional Master's Degree in Architecture held at
the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, and its main objective is to present the
development of an architectural project for an almond and cashew nut processing plant with an
emphasis on bioclimatic architecture, in the municipality of Severiano Melo – RN. The choice
for the theme was based on the need for research in this field of knowledge, as well as on real
demands for structures of this nature in a cashew nut producing region, and on the challenges
encountered by the author with work experiences in buildings in this segment. Thus, the present
work is based on methodological research procedures that included a literature review, analysis
of related projects and an on-site visit in the intervention area to study the design constraints.
The initial design phase was built from the architectural programming and definition of design
dilemmas and goals; studies of wind direction and speed, pressure distribution around the
building and the consequent spatialization of ideas through sketches and schematic models,
points that served as subsidies for defining the architectural design of the building. The results
consist of a description of the stages of the design process and an exposition of the solutions
found to cover different uses of environments. In this sense, reconciling the complexity inherent
to the manufacturing activity with the conditions of environmental comfort, functional and
technical aspects, specific demands, financial resources and care for the user's health were the
biggest challenges of the work.
