A tradição do Acais na jurema natalense: memória, identidade, política

Abstract

The development of speeches, images and representations about Jurema’s tradition is present in everyday temples of this religion, in order to, in general, define differentiated position when compared with other african-brazilian religious practices, including the own Jurema. Based on ethnographic research and interviews with these religious of Natal – RN, this work intends to reflect some of these strategies, like the one assumed by a religious group, which reference to the tradition of Acais, show symbolic elements of their practice to compose what is translated as the model of tradition. It is intend, also, discuss the conceptual level, questions about identity and political dimension that permeates the aforementioned process of tradition’s reworking
