The following work aimed to gather technical information among the safety of the dam of Gargalheiras, with the perception of the population in areas of risk in the downstream of the dam’s wall. For this, it was used reports of the water national body, research in the field for application of queries with the population in the areas with risk of flood and inspections in the structure of the dam. The results of this work are showed in cross references matrices and in indices of behaviour, real shape of the dam and it potential dangerous. In the end, it is proposed the implantation of a commission to gesture dams in the state and the foundation of the municipal civil defense coordination in Acari.O presente trabalho buscou compilar informações técnicas a respeito da segurança da barragem Gargalheiras, com a percepção da população nas áreas de risco a jusante da parede da barragem em Acari. Para isso foram utilizados relatórios do órgão nacional gestor das águas, pesquisa em campo para aplicação dos questionários com a população nas áreas de risco de inundação e inspeção nas estruturas da barragem. Os produtos deste trabalho são apresentados em matrizes de referência cruzadas e em índices de comportamento, estado real da barragem e seu perigo potencial. Ao final, recomenda-se a implantação de uma comissão de gestão de barragens no estado e a fundação da coordenação de defesa civil municipal em Acari.
