Resumen
The organizational structure affects the entire development of an organization, being
an important tool to guide and provide resources regarding the improvements in the
efficiency of organizations. Thus, a case study is presented based on the
characteristics of the organizational structure adopted in the Unified Coordination of
Undergraduate Courses at the Center for Biosciences of UFRN In this sector, a
unificacion of the coordination of five undergraduate courses was carried out, creating
a General Secretariat of the CB Undergraduate Courses. The study was conducted by
surveying the characteristics of the organizational structure adopted after the
unification, identifying the adequacy of this structure to an organizational innovation
process, observing the functionality and efficiency of the processes performed and the
advantages and disadvantages of the unified structure, aiming at to analyze the
organizational structure adopted in the Unified Coordination of CB Undergraduate
Courses, from the perspective of being a process of organizational innovation. For that,
a descriptive and qualitative research was carried through, with bibliographical survey
on the subjects encompassed in the study, followed by documentary research. As the
process of organizational innovation refers to the implementation of new organizational
methods, such as changes in service practices, workplace organization or internal and
external relations of the organization, aiming at improving performance, it was possible
to conclude at the end. that the unified organizational structure is an innovation process
with satisfactory impacts regarding its efficiency and qualities and an instructional
roadmap of the main adaptations necessary to allow the reapplication of the
organizational structure model adopted in the CB Coordination was proposed.
