dc.description.abstractA major purpose in the medical field, specifically in the part of hospital-medical equipment management area, is the identification and prevention of potential failures. The health and safety of patients are primary focus area, which is why preventing errors and possible failures in medical equipment is so important. Currently, tools such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) are applied to healthcare as a proactive risk maintenance solution. It works by identifying the modes, causing the failures, and causing the activation of the most important solutions and eliminating the risks. Thus, we present a study on the use of an FMEA tool applied to health (HFMEA) to investigate failures in equipment in the technology park. Therefore, a bibliographic review of the HFMEA was carried out, which served as a basis for the application of the tool in the clinical sector of the Januário Cicco Maternity School. Create a spreadsheet to do analysis, point of failure and risk assessment. The study of the membrane of the exhalation valve that is part of the internal circuit of the pulmonary ventilator was carried out. Potential valve membrane failures were identified using the method in question. It is concluded that the HFMEA methodology is efficient and extremely necessary to detect failures in health equipment.
