Resumen
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a tubing installation technology underground without the necessity for trenching. This technology is used in urban areas due to the reduced impact on traffic and activities around the construction site, shorter execution time and low greenhouse gas emission, then, it’s used a small number of machines and equipment. In rural areas, it is used for transposition of natural and artificial such as rivers and highways. In Brazil, there are still little diffusion of technology, different from countries like the United States, European Countries and China, which is the current world leader in execution of HDD works. However, like all engineering work, it may present risks, which can make the execution of the project unfeasible if not collected as combined management measures. Risk management should be understood as a starting point for the preparation of the HDD project, and the identification of the risk factors is one of the initial stages of this management. In this sense, this work had the objective of systematizing the information about the factors that present risk moderate, high or very high in HDD works. A systematic review of the literature, in the databases of ASCE Library, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar, using the strings such as “Horizontal Directional Drilling and Risk” and “Horizontal Directional Drilling and Risk ". The articles were selected based on a protocol previously elaborated and, then, a questionnaire was requested to extract the information. Based on this review, the factors found were: blocking the drill pipe or product tube installation due to expansion of clay and drilling waste, soil conditions, failure in drilling rig, hole path, natural suitors found on the ground, built intentions by the man found in the soil, collapse of the hole, hydro fracture, loss of fluid circulation and reducing waste return. In addition, there is no need to expand production national scientific report on risk management in HDD works.
