O Serviço Social na política de inclusão na UFRN: um elo a ser fortalecido

Abstract

The present work is the result of a process lived in the mandatory curricular internship in the inclusion policy at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). It aims to highlight the importance of making social worker professional in the referred policy, due to the lack of visibility of this professional in the scope of the Inclusion and Accessibility Secretariat (SIA). This work is guided by a critical theoretical-methodological perspective, which allowed the researcher in the relationship with the investigated object to go beyond the phenomenal, immediate and empirical appearance, where knowledge necessarily begins, and to grasp the essence, that is, the structure and the dynamics of the object. It analyzes the dynamic interrelationship between people with disabilities and social vulnerability, and social vulnerability may be one of the factors that cause disability, since the context in which the individual is inserted is permeated by social, political, cultural, economic multi-determinants and cultural factors that lead to social vulnerability and cause disability. From this analysis, supported by a bibliographic and documentary research, through the study of data from the 2010 census, it was possible to verify the social complexity in which people with disabilities are inserted. The data reveal that the majority of PWDs in the country are located in the Northeast of Brazil, with 12.0% of the municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte showing a percentage of people with at least one of the disabilities. And, with regard to monthly income, the percentage of PWD who survive on up to one minimum wage or without income reaches 46.4%. Therefore, it was observed, according to the Superintendence of Informatics - SINFO, that the public who entered the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte between the years 2017-2019, 1469 (one thousand four hundred and sixty-nine) students are people with disabilities , entering through the quota system. These subjects are part of the UFRN reality, where an inclusion policy is implemented mediated by Social Work professionals (in addition to other professionals), whose intervention separates dealing with the complex demands brought by the PCD, one of the expressions of the social question, transformed professional requests. Intervention developed in a purposeful, competent and proactive manner, subsidized by theoretical-methodological, ethical-political and technical-operational references, in a dynamic, historical, contradictory and constantly changing reality. Based on this study and its results, it is emphasized the importance of the social worker in that policy.
