Resumen
The present study verified the influence of interoception (accuracy and awareness) on the
regulation of physical effort and psychophysiological responses during two running tests in
adolescents. Participants were 45 adolescents (15.55 ± 0.78 years), in the first stage, the
subjects were allocated in the high interoceptive accuracy group (AAI; n = 20) when they
obtained a heart rate test of ≥ 85% and ≤ 84% were allocated in the group of low interoceptive
accuracy (BAI; n = 25) and in the second stage the groups were divided into high (ACI; n = 28)
and low (BCI; n = 17) interoceptive awareness. The participants performed two running tests,
differing in the given instruction, one with free instruction and one with maximum instruction,
for 10 minutes. During exercise, the heart rate, the subjective perception of effort (PSE) and
the affective response were measured every 2 minutes. Normality was tested by Shapiro-Wilk
and z-score. The T-test for independent samples and the Mann-Whitney used to compare the
groups. The Generalized Estimating Equation model verified differences in PSE responses and
affection. In step 1, the BAI group ran higher. When comparing the distance traveled, we found
a greater distance walked by the BAI group (p <0.05), showing no difference between the PSE
and affection responses (p> 0.05) in both tests of racing. In stage two, the BCI group ranged
farther (p = 0.026); however, with free instruction there was no difference between the groups
(p = 0.097), as for the affective response, PSE and heart rate the groups obtained similar
responses in the groups. two tests (p> 0.05). We conclude that subjects with high interoceptive
accuracy present greater conservation when selecting the intensity of physical exercise,
regardless of the orientation received, which assigned different intensities. However,
interoceptive awareness seems to only exert influence in exercise with maximum instruction.
