Resumen
Vulvovaginal candidiasis (CVV) is a disease where an infection of the vulva and vagina is found, caused by the genus Candida sp. it has more than 200 types of different microorganisms, of which Candida albicans stands out more due to its prevalence rate under normal and infection conditions. From this perspective, this study sought to carry out a literature review on the virulence factors of candidiasis in pregnant women. The present study is characterized as a type of bibliographical, exploratory and descriptive review. The selected works were included from the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) database and in PubMed, the search period was the years 2015 to 2021. The descriptors used to search for studies were: “candidiasis”, “candida”, “candida albicans”, “vulvovaginal candidiasis”, “pregnancy”, “vulvovaginal candidiasis”, “pregnancy and predisposing factors”. It was observed that vaginal candidiasis is one of the biggest occurrences related to genital infections and, in most cases, it is a primary disease, that is, it arises due to an imbalance in the patient's normal vaginal microbiota or even changes in her immune status. Thus, due to the diversity of forms and methods of resistance, it is necessary to update treatments, carry out campaigns for awareness and clarification, in the search for new therapeutic targets, and prevention and diagnosis strategies for these infections, especially with regard to women pregnant women.
