Resumen
The textile industry generates a large amount of effluents containing dyes, especially azo-dyes such as rective black 5 (RB5). If left untreated, these effluents cause damage to the environment and human health. The conventional biological treatment is not efficient for this kind of compound. Advanced oxidation processes have been applied to degrade effluents containing dyes refractory to biological treatment. The objective of this work was to study the degradation of the dye Remazol Black-B using the process of photo-Fenton advanced oxidation with UV-A, targeting the water reuse and reduction of production costs. An experimental factorial design (23) was carried out using H2O2, Fe2+ and RB5 dye as independent variables and the conversion of total organic carbon (TOC) as the response variable. An artificial neural network (ANN) model was developed using the Statistica 8.0 software for process optimization. The optimum condition was obtained with molar concentration ratio of equal to 119:19:1 for PTC reactor with black light lamp after 90 minutes of reaction. Experimental test was conducted under optimized conditions, obtaining 90% conversion of TOC showing the good performance of the empirical ANN model for the prediction and optimization of process
