The idea of trauma in three crucial moments of the freudian thinking is examined, discussed and compared to the American Film noirs pproach on human condition. The moments are 1896 (marked by the so-called theory of seduction), 1918 (year of the publication of History of an infantile neurosis) and 1920 (the starting of the freudians reformulation of his doctrine, with the introduction of the death drives hypothesis). The sexual meaning inside the trauma and the internal attack by drives that it causes are the main elements put in dialogue with passion in human love as seen on three dark movies: Arhtur Lubins Impact (1949), Orson Welless The lady from Shanghai and John Houstons The maltese alcon (1941), in order to build a link between psychoanalysis and art.
