Resumen
INTRODUCTION: In Brazil futsal is the sport with the largest number of players, being practiced by more than 12 million people. By involving races, jumps and the movements of changes of direction occur high incidence of the sprains. After ankle sprain, about 40% of individuals continue to report a feeling of joint instability, called functional ankle instability. Despite the number of occurrences of ankle sprain and the potential for restraint of activity, no consensus has yet been reached as to the best clinical approach to be used for treatment and prevention. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of ankle sprains in futsal practitioners, your characteristics and investigate ways to prevent this type of injury. METHODOLOGY: The literature review of this study was carried out by searching the Pubmed, PEdro, SciELO and Virtual Health Library databases, including articles with the following keywords: Futsal, Prevention, Injuries, Sprains and Incidence. As to the time of publication, only published studies after the year 2000 were used. RESULTS: We found 39 articles. Of these, 22 were excluded that addressed other themes, and 17 articles of observational studies were used for the present study. The articles were presented in a table with the authors, objectives, sample and results. CONCLUSION: In Futsal athletes, ankle sprain is one of the most recurrent injuries in all the studies surveyed, presenting a high incidence throughout the athlete's entire career. The use of external resources such as orthoses, functional bandages, correction and taping insoles and treatments such as proprioceptive resources appear as great tools not only in rehabilitation but also in the prevention of relapses or new injuries.
