The study propose to evaluate whether there is a lower prevalence of caries in preschool children of low socio-economic level, of the Pedreira do Instituto PSF assigned area, located in Itabira-MG. They are attended in the Irmã Maria Clara daycare. They were compared with preschool children havent been attended by any public policy of preventing oral health and without access to fluoridated water. A cross-sectional observational study (pilot study) with a sample of 54 children of both gender were performed. Data collection was performed by consulting the dental records (secondary data ) randomly separated into two groups- one group of 27 children residing in the urban area and who attend in daycare. They have fluoridated water access, supervised brushing, topical fluoride application, balanced diet and guidelines for health promotion and prevention of caries. The other group with 27 children that are not in daycare and they dont have treated water because they live in rural areas, and they are not included in preventive public policy. One mean of 0.59 decayed teeth in the group of children who attended daycare and an average of 0.48 in the group that did not attend the institution was found. Graphs showed that the prevalence of caries disease in children in daycare despite higher, manifests itself in a more controlled. The number of decayed teeth per child is higher in the group that did not attend by daycare. The study suggests that the protection factor of the daycare and preventive public policies, the oral health of children increases
