This article focuses on the history of the education of teachers who teach mathematics through the book of memories written by Felicidade Arroyo Nucci, a former teacher who worked in schools in São Paulo from 1933 to 1964. Teachers’ education is viewed as a continuous process that goes beyond academic education in the strict sense, and which covers the personal life, the initial qualification and the professional path of the teachers. The author and her book stand out, with the use of some passages referring to the teaching of mathematics and other aspects of the teacher's professional life. From these passages, the history of the education of teachers who teach mathematics is considered as a history in the feminine, between the Catholic Church and the State, and also as a history of scholar practices perceived as cultural practices. The final reflections are composed of theoretical-methodological considerations on the use of memorialistic writing in investigations in History of Mathematics Education.
