The adherence to antiretroviral treatment is a priority inside of the attendance to infected people by HIV. With the intention of contributing to improve the understanding of that process, I accomplished clinical-qualitative research interviewing 29 antiretroviral users. I worked those interviews for the technique of analysis of the thematic content, to the light of the phenomenology, existentialist philosophy and psychoanalysis. The infections diagnosis for HIV represented a stigma that affected the peoples existential perception deeply, forcing them to structure a new connection with life. For this, those individuals mobilized its personality, its corporal conscience, its interaction form with society, its intimacy and the antiretroviral treatment. In this new connection, the heterosexual ones didnt get to readjust the sex to the existence. Thatdiscovery indicates that is necessary to research more about the infections representations for HIV related to the sex. On the other hand, the therapeutic adherence represented the own existential anguish. It was shown as a difficult process, even so, potentially gratifying, to depend of the own HIV carrier. The necessary support to itselaboration can come from the environment and/or of the attendance. So that the professionals that take care of infected people by that virus get to help its patients to be dedicated to the therapeutics against the same, it is necessary that understand the existential phenomenon represented by this infection and is treatment, and incorporate such understanding to its practice.
