ABSTRACTThroughout the analysis of labor safety technician’s course through time, thisresearch studied the activities developed by them, in interpersonal relationships,including actions that were articulated within their educational roles. Starting fromwork as our main category, and though an ergological approach towards the humanactivity, we conducted a quality study, descriptive-exploratory in nature, using semi-structured interviews as a means to collect data and make a treatment analysis of theraised content. This study intends to show that labor safety technician’s educationalrole goes beyond the traditional classroom environment and manages to reach alltypes of productive spaces, hence the fact they are at the forefront of health andsafety processes, in close contact all sorts of tasks performers, in the differentsituations and positions as workers. There is a variability present not only betweenthe various economic activities, but also between the ways in which the productionprocess is organized, and all of that reflects directly on the way of working and on theother themes related to work itself. From an ergological point of view, this researchtried to establish and discuss the correlation between the technicians’ activity and itsknow-how, and the connection between the demands of prescription that wererequired by the organizations and how it met the prescribed work. It was noticed thepredominance of a vision focused on individual behavior, which ends up misleadingtheir interpretations about security and may limit their intervention, making it difficultto construct alternatives. We sought to understand the extent to which schooleducation can contribute to this educational practice. We have seen how little theschool instruction is, the same one that subordinates the processes they develop,and that most of the times, they appear to be clueless of the foundations of theeducational process. It was noticed that the technicians have to build this educativedimension in their daily routine and that nowadays their actions show little concernwith their pedagogical formation. It is believed that by knowing the cognition processand the strategies developed by the technicians, we would be able to help in thepromotion of new proposals for their formation, expanding their capabilities andreducing their limitations. Then, with the improvement of their skills as workeducators, labor safety technicians can contribute more effectively in reducing thenumber of deaths and accidents related to work all over the country.
