dc.description.abstractThis Computer Assisted Language Learning project was developed within the scope of the Linguistic Studies Post-Graduate Program, at the College of Language of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. The project is a proposal of English language teaching through social networks, we have used Edmodo online platform for the development of this pilot project with integrated technical courses students in the North of Minas Gerais Federal Institute. Supported by the Communities of Practice concepts (LAVE; WENGER, 1991), this work aimed to use new Technologies to enable the sharing and collaboration through a free closed social network, promoting English language learning. Among others objectives, in this Project we pursued to plan or adapt new relevant learning experiences incorporating digital resources and tools to promote the student’s learning and creativity. We could perceive more student engagement from the moment they were invited to participate in a virtual community as a classroom activity extension.
