Marriage is a ritual event that marks a significant event in the life of people. The research objective of this paper is to investigate the meaning of the wedding party ritual and their influence on brides decisions about celebrating. For this, a qualitative research was carried out, using in-depth interviews with nine brides. Data analysis indicated that the meanings of wedding party consumption for brides interviewed are related to the idea of a dream and a historic constructed image, socially and culturally wedding ritual. In this process, there is a dialogue between built elements historically about the wedding ritual and contemporary influences in Brides definitions with respect to everything that permeates this celebration. It is also noted that, despite all the emotional and symbolic character that brides have with preparation and wedding party planning, financial issue weighs heavily at the time of decision making, which indicates the importance attached to the utilitarian motivation
